Glorious 2.1 Still The Same Issues

Noticed that Core 2.1 was available for download today. Got it on my system. Seems stable for now. However, it is crazy to me that keybindings are still broken. Very disappointed.

  1. There is still no way to bind a key to HOME in the software. How is that possible considering multiple people have asked and it was a feature in 1.0? For now, I have to make a macro using the windows on-screen keyboard and bind to HOME that way.

  2. As was mentioned in previous posts, I still cannot rebind the highlighted keys in the software. I select the key, select the function I want, and hit save and nothing happens.

  3. The rotary wheel and slider on my Glorious Numpad stopped working entirely on Core 2.1. They are nonresponsive and cannot adjust volume up or down or mute audio, even when I try to force the function through keybinds.

Issues (1) and (2) are highlighted in orange and red in the image below, respectively.

Even worse hereā€¦
In addition to the keybinding issues you mentioned I am unable to change the LED lighting in any way using the software. I tried to set a Profile to be solid red, and when I select that profile I still only see the default lighting. This worked in 2.0, but it is broken in 2.1.

I really want to like my GMMK PRO, however I want to customize both the layout and the lighting and I am unable to do that with the software. I know I can use QMK to remap the keys, however the lighting is not supported.

Guess I am back to my Das Keybaord 5QS until CORE 2.2 is releasedā€¦

@Tempy ā€¦ Here is feedback on some issues with the new CORE 2.1 that is still carrying over from CORE 2.0.

Yeah, I was going to say, according to that thread there hasnā€™t been another update yet, just word that they are working on the bugs but no timeframe for when the update will be out.

Giving to our software team now

I also found that the lack of Home binding troubling not to mention that the Macro editor is still trash (I canā€™t even start to get into how bad the macro editor is). I think that the 2.x editor it way worse than the 1.x editor as far as overall UI.

I think itā€™s time to ditch the Glorious Core for VIA. Looks like Glorious can make hardware but itā€™s software is not glorious at all. They should call it Egregious Core.

Iā€™ve had a GMMK pro for a while. Never cared to remap the volume rotary, and 1.x software seemed fine.

Just bought a GMMK Numpad, and one of the first things I went to do was remap the (now duplicate) volume knobā€¦ oh you canā€™t. Okay cool I guess, Iā€™ll just remap the volume slidā€¦ ohā€¦ you canā€™t do that either. So you have two hardcoded volume controls on an ancillary to a peripheral that already has a hardcoded volume controlā€¦

ā€¦ and itā€™s been pointed out months ago: We have to talk about Core 2.0 and surely internally well before that. And at the time a rep said it was being worked onā€¦

I donā€™t want to be a negative nancy, but wtaf is the software product team doing? 2.1 is worse than 2.0. The aforementioned numpad volume sliders and knob at least worked previously. Now on 2.1 they do notā€¦ How do you not regression test that kind of stuff?

Iā€™m not going to pretend I begin to understand whatā€™s going on behind the scenes to produce software this bad from an otherwise good company, but someone higher up should take charge; the bad software is going to tank your business and the great work the hardware team does.

At an absolute minimum write some more automated regression tests on the software side for the love of all that is holy.

Can you please clarify what happened the last time you ā€˜gave it to the software teamā€™?

From the other thread back in May, Tempy, you made this comment:

"We understand that CORE 2.0 has not been anywhere near what our audience wanted it to be at launch.

The update coming out within the next few days will focus on functionality, so youā€™ll see updates coming to Key Bindings, DPI, Macros, Device Recognition, etc.

Lighting issues are being worked on but will be in a future update in the near-term.

We have heard feedback regarding users wanting more options with their rotary knob and slider and this is coming. I canā€™t give you an exact date but I can assure you this is on the teams list to get done."

Maybe some information on where ā€œvolume slider and knob donā€™t work at all on numpad in GC 2.1ā€ is in the backlog? Is it assigned? being worked on? Still sitting in the backlog with a ā€˜40ā€™ gathering dust?

Why was this not picked up in regression testing? Why are seemingly simple software updates taking months and being pushed out extremely buggy? You guys arenā€™t making software for missile systems; itā€™s basically just a big microcontroller.

Additionally, I purchased this in Australia where we have extremely strict consumer laws (ACCC). The numpad was advertised on the supplierā€™s website as having a reprogrammable slider (assuming this is marketing spiel from Glorious directly):

ā€œThe Glorious GMMK Pre-Built Numpad offers total customizability with 17 programmable keys, a pressable rotary encoder knob and a programmable slider.ā€ https://www.pccasegear.com/products/58859/glorious-gmmk-pre-built-numpad-black

Iā€™ll give it a week before lodging a case with the ACCC to have a look at whatā€™s going on with this false advertising.

Fix your incredibly broken software holy ****.

As a numpad owner, second this!

Also, I cannot change the RGB sidelights in Glorious CORE at all.

As mentioned in the previous post, the side led is set to be battery indicator by default and should be able to turn off on CORE. But CORE 2.1 no longer has this function and I cannot change the sidelight at all. Please bring back the option.

Bueller? Bueller? Has anyone seen Bueller? What is happening with the ā€˜programmableā€™ slider and rotary knob, please? 4 and 1/2 months since you promised a change was a-coming.

To sum it up:

GM Core 1 had the feature to turn off the ā€œBattery Level indicatorā€

GM Core 2.1 has dropped that, and thatā€™s it ?
Is this a bad joke ?

Can we get an expected timeline for these fixes? This whole situation is massively disappointing

Yet another issue has come up. My 2.1 had an ā€œUpdate Availableā€. After installing, the app still shows an update available. Also, on this new version, my GMMK Pro and GMMK Numpad now both show ā€œFirmware 0000ā€ and have an update available. No matter how many times I try to update them, nothing changes. Lighting has also become totally unresponsive. How does each update keep making things worse?

I just got word from support that apparently they are going to release an update by the end of this month, we will see if its just bs or not, here is their whole statement:

"The Dev team are in the process of pushing updates for these reported issues so they can be resolved as quickly as possible. This might however take a couple of weeks as the fixes need to be tested and then deployed.
I would therefore kindly request that we please give them some time to address these reported Software / Firmware issues. These updates are estimated to be released by the end of this month. "

New update 2.1.3 but it does not fix anything, is there a way to see changelogs anywhere?

edit: found this link to changelog but it does not say anything about the new updateā€¦
