Show off your Non GMMK PRO Builds

Looking back I don’t think I’ll do something like that again lol

Not worth ruining the board for a pic

Q9 with staebies, poron switch pads, lubed and filmed cherry MX speed silvers, and MT3 Noctua.

I’m not huge on really small boards (65% is 1 key too small in my book), but I thought this one was interesting as it comes with arrow keys and two additional key slots. Plus I’m an addict.

Which key is missing in your opinion?

Delete. I prefer having the four nav keys and delete. That’s why 75% is my favorite (I like the function row too, but it’s not a deal breaker).

I think most 65% boards have delete. That is an odd layout.

When you can remap a board, the default doesn’t make a difference, so I just spoke to my own preference.

In the case of the default mojo68 (on a low profile drop alt?) with the caps shown, home would be my missing key.

I have thought about using a split backspace and hosting delete and backspace next to one another, though (I don’t like using the R2 1.25U for BS).

Finally got my Ikki68 in!!!

(Was going to post this in the “What did you get in the mail today” thread, but was too excited to build it.)

  • Wired Bodo PCB with RGB under glow
  • Silicone case/PCB dampening
  • Internal Brass weight
  • Poron PCB and plate foam
  • PC plate
  • WS Auroroa stabilizers (lubed w/ XHD-BTZ and 205g0)

This is going to be my new switch, keycap, and stabilizer test mule. Figure I can finally give the poor hotswap sockets on my Keychron Q1 a much deserved break

MechWild Mercutio 40%. This was my first real solder job (after a few small learning kits).

I was originally going to put MT3 Captain America on it because… why not.. but it didn’t have the right keys (split spacebars, split enter). The keysterine set I got in a mystery box didn’t have the right sized enter key, but I used a shift key instead for now. I didn’t want to put an expensive set on it, so here we are. One of my goals for next year will be to get a higher end mid-level 3D printer, in which case I’ll print myself a weird colored enter key. The keycaps only coincidentally matched the purple PCB, hahaha

Next up is my Alish 40, also purchased from MechWild and also more of a practice/learning kit. Then I’ll be moving on to the big boys with a Bubble75 to solder (where it’s only the switches that have to be done!).

Looks beautiful @d3L7r0n I love the side profile, it really flows well and there is no crack where the top frame and bottom come together from the side profile

Very nice @Meinate gotta have a coffee shop board if you have coffee shops like that around you. I live in to small of a town but if I didn’t and I went to coffee shops I would for sure have a Keyboard specifically for that lol

So, today was an interesting day. I was planning on doing my Alish 40 (or at least starting it), but immediately I ran into a snag. The snag was that the PCB had no cutouts for the stabs. On the discord, this was acknowledged, and new PCBs will be sent out in a month.

Therefore, I figured I had to move on to one of the big boys. I chose a Bubble75, which is basically my “orgy board”. I have 3 of them plus 4 additional PCBs (3 solder, 1 backup hotswap). So, I dismantled one of my hotswap boards and did my first “real” build! I even had to desolder one switch (it was very easy with a pump), so I was proud about that too.

The second issue I had was that the only plate that supports stepped caps is the PC plate. I was really looking forward to using my FR4 plate, but alas, it was not to happen this time around. I love me stepped caps.

The third issue was that I forgot to put the PE/EVA foam pad between the PCB and plate. But… I didn’t realize this until the whole thing was done. Not going to desolder everything and redo it, hahaha. It feels and sounds great, anyway.

Specs:

  • Bubble 75 Premium
  • PC plate
  • Staebies lubed with 205g0 and XHT-BDZ on the wires
  • Aqua King 62g, lubed and filmed
  • GMK Minimal

I also put GMK Minimal on my numpad (without modifying anything else) to match the board. I was forced to put 4 kitty paws on the top :stuck_out_tongue:

@d3L7r0n that Sonnet build is BEAUTIFUL. I love the copper bottom and accent. Did you hear that the Sonnet went in-stock?
