Show off your Non GMMK PRO Builds

Haha, Yep! I might ask for GMMK Pro barebones for christmas, im not really sure but ill have some time to think it over. Im liking this office one though because it is a compact full size compared to the full size so I have more mouse room.

Now that you have the cap, you can design your whole board around it.

Won’t have it for a few days, but was looking for another budget-y build for when I do go into the office. And despite it having a knob (and me telling myself no more rectangles), which I’m admittedly not a huge fan of…picked up a lavender Portico75

I couldn’t turn down the price for something that sounds decent from what I’ve heard and seen, and will be a good budget board for when I have to go into the office. I can maybe finally retire the ol’ Tofu65 I was using for that purpose. This will, assuming it sounds good, end up being my switch testing board.

How’d you like the tofu65? I might pick one up over the coarse of awhile for my first keeb build. Just for the case it looked like a decent price without adding switches or anything.

There are better options for around the same price.

Examples:
Bakeneko65 - I’ve built one of these, they restock fairly often. Price is similar to a Tofu65. I liked this board a lot more.

NK65 Entry Edition - also restocks fairly often. I didn’t mind this, but it was plate mount stabs which I’m not a huge fan of. Fairly inexpensive.

I have a tofu60 buried in the closet somewhere …I like it but not enough to ever use it

For awhile, Tofu boards were a really good entry point. Companies have just come along with better options at a similar price, which I’m thankful for. By no means is the Tofu a bad board with some work.

Edit: arrow keys are required. I can’t bring myself to use 60% boards, but I have a soft spot for cute little 40% boards. It’s a serious problem.

Gasket mounts all the way for me.
Although, no, I never customized a tray mount but I think I like the idea of gaskets.

I did the o-ring mount mod for my Tofu, along with some plate foam. I like how it sounds, I just have better board options now.

Bubble75

My most expensive keyboard kit I’ll lastly purchase.

  • Zealios V1 Redux Tactcile lubed w/ 205g0 and 105 on springs - Luckily for me, I saved money on this because I won a $100 ZealPC gift card from the Canadian keyboard meetup
  • Glorious Pandas on top row lubed w/ 205g0, only brought 70 Zealios
  • Staebies V2 - lightly lubed w/ 205g0 *don’t screw them on “tight” or it will be mushy
  • Biipmk’s Cherry profile PBT Milkshake keyset

My first impression with this board was really nice, this board has 28 gasket mounts, great sound and awesome typing experience for far. I just wish the gold bubble was a bit more.. gold looking? Something like Zoom65 gold

Very clean White Minimalist Keyboard. Very nice, and that is awesome you won a $100 ZealPC gift card congrats on that.

Yeah, I can see what you mean about how you wish the Gold Bubble was a little more Gold then it is, it’s more of a Yellow Textured Gold as where the but it is still really cool looking Zoom65 is a Shiny Smooth Gold but it still is really nice looking. I like it a lot

I love the lighting in your pictures, really nice

Thank you! I looked into both and I’m considering the NK65 entry edition. Appreciate it!

If you haven’t get a chance to look at KBD Lite67. It’s a gasket mount and I think majority of people feel this board is generally better than NK65.

I believe the difference is, Lite67 is dissembled, gasket mounted, uses screw in stabilizers and a bit more priced but it’s still considered a solid budget board

NK65 (top mounted) is from what I heard, preassembled already and it uses plate mounted stabilizers. I see a bit of people getting frustrating with plate mounted stabilizers, although I never used any but someone told me, “that’s good, you don’t want plate mounted.”

If you do buy KBD Lite67, you can just toss TX stabilizers and call it a day. TX stabilizers are good with a light coat of Krytox 205g0 or without any lube, no ticks or rattles. Saves you frustration than trying to tune a plate mounted. I personally think there’s something more exciting to assemble your own keyboard rather than receiving a barebones as well.

Haha, thank you. It was unexpected because it was my first keyboard meetup.

I was hoping to get my hands on the weight being black but it gold was the only colour available for the extras for the white version. There’s other options but I always just prefer white or black keyboards

Alright, I’ll check it out. Thanks everyone for the recommendations!

Maybe Ikki Aurora 68 R2 (currently available as extras) and Zoom65 might interest you as well. I believe Zoom65 is more expensive, $170 usd I believe. Zoom65 extras may come in the next upcoming weeks on CannonKeys. Ikki Aurora 68 R2 extras available on CannonKeys.
