Show off your Non GMMK PRO Builds

Droooooooooolll

I saw that. I have two builds in mind for the future that I’ll almost certainly be using one of the NK EE for.

My wife’s daughter recently asked about custom keyboards (yessssssss).

She plays Valorant, and wants one themed to her favorite character. Their purple will fit perfect for it.

NK65 EE with Breaking Bad themed keycaps also from NK

Lubed Durock smokey T1 tactile switches

There are some really cool novelty keycaps in this set, but I just wanted the clean yellow/green look (least for now)

My biggest gripe with the NK65 EE is the right side USB C port. Most of my cables are made for middle or left so it makes things annoying. I have the KBD 67 lite, and do favor it more in almost every aspect. I love trying out the budget boards though!

One linear, one tactile?

You got me. The only mods (at the moment) to the GMMK2 are switch pads (world changing from a sound perspective) and I added more lube to the stabs. I have some GS2s on the way that I think I will swap the stabs with. But otherwise, the red fox linears are just TOO GOOD. The KBD67 lite has the Boba U4Ts 62g. These both compliment each other so well.

Have you tried out your Boba’s yet?

I have to say, the caps are great. The frame color matches really well. But what does it for me is that cable. I feel like that’s the hazmat suit and it’s perfect! Beautiful build.

:grimacing: I have not tried my Boba’s yet…

And quit talking me into getting switch pads!

I wouldn’t rave about them if they weren’t rave worthy. I am half tempted to put them on my kbd67. But the effort is real. Need a chunk of time to commit, and I don’t know how much it will change the sound of that board. The board already sounds great now, but will it remove that slight clack and give me all the butter? Unknown.

Switch pads make almost any budget board sound $100 better haha. I love them

LiquidMaverick, that cable was only $20 from Akko (on Amazon). Seems like great quality too! Akko is really shaking things up lately, loving it. Glorious is doing the same. Glad to see that the hobby is becoming a bit more budget friendly… but in my case I just buy MORE stuff!

I’m turning all of my Boba U4T 68g into Holy Boba’s. They are soooooo great! Right up there with the Azure Blue Dragons in my top 2. Both have very different sound signatures though, so I don’t really like one more than the other, so it just depends on what I want to hear.

I did order some additional Boba U4T 62g, as the 68’s are a bit too heavy for me, but perfect for Holy Boba frankenswitch. I also have the Boba U4T RGB, and don’t waste money on the RGB versions, they are awful IMHO… sound is WAY different (in a bad way) vs the standard U4T’s.

in my KBD67 Lite, I opted to not use switch pads. I did add the bottom case silicone. I absolutely love the sound, and I just won’t risk changing it with the pads. They are difficult to remove, and why change what I’m loving.

I will have 3 x KBD67 lite’s once my group buy is shipped (someday). The one I have now is in ISO, and while its cool, I can’t get used to the enter key placement. Seriously the KBD67 lite is an amazing keyboard though for the price. If only the GMMK 2 wasn’t low profile, it might be able to compete with it. I don’t really care for low profile, and I have a Drop Alt that is gathering dust because of this…

Akko seems to have some pretty decent barebones boards that are sub-$100, they look interesting.

The Akko/Ducky stuff has always been stellar, we’re just lucky that the market can handle them doing things like cables and more detailed cap sets now!
