I do like the Q8. I’m not sure the blues will quite match up to the numpad. She seems a little purple in the picture. Might just be lighting, or my monitor, or my shitty vision
I keep my numpad on the far side of my mouse so the slight mismatch with the KBDfans board isn’t a big deal. They are in the close enough range.
It’s the lighting, and my iPhone, the Blue is actually like a Darker Blue. I was a little worried when I ordered it in Blue but when I actually got it and took a look it “Blue” me away. I’m extremely happy with the color.
Yeah I figured the Blue Top For the Numpad might not exactly match and I am alright with that, I do think the Blues will be a close match and they will be far enough a part that it won’t matter that much if they don’t match exactly
Finally got around to finding some keycaps for my red tofu60…its been in the closet for a longggg time because the keycaps I had originally got for it had the scoop keycaps on F and J and I through it in the closet and forgot about it.
I figured I kept everyone (especially @Dozill )waiting long enough.
With the delivery of my plate fork, a hotswap PCB on order, a spare aluminum plate, leftover JWK linears from the Zoom65, and an extra ld set of Durock V2 stabs, I figured I’d overcome my fear of soldering a PCB.
Here is my Iron165 R2
-Aluminum plate
-Durock V2 Stabs (Krytox 205g0)
-JWK linear switches
-Springs swapped with Durock 56g 3-stage gold springs)
-Lubed with 70/30 mix of Krytox 205g0 and 105g0
-Deskey V2 Switch film (0.3m)
-GMK Storm keycaps
-Smith & Rune graphite artisan keykap
-Polished stainless steel weight & badge
It is beautiful @d3L7r0n. Great job on the soldering! I’m sure you are feeling pretty proud right now, I know I would. Again great job buddy! I love it
Thanks for all the information, trying to gather all the knowledge I can before my Zoom65 arrives since it will be my first full build so I really appreciate the help
That goes for everyone else that has given me helpful hints and tips as well
oh… my… KEYBOARDS! it looks so good! how you liking the JWK? also in the last photo i can see your wallpaper, if you wouldnt mind, could you possible send it to me?
and again, nice build!
I am already a HUGE fan of JWK as their Alpacas are my favorite linear. These, from what I understand, are basically the same except for the spring. They were included in the Zoom65 kit (which makes it an AMAZING option in its price range!), but since I had already opted to use lubed and filmed Alpacas on that build, these just kind of sat around, taking up switch storage container space. Once I lubed, filmed, and spring-swapped them, they are a very good linear switch that is smooth, but snappy. HIGHLY recommend picking up new springs for any switches that you “sort of like” as it may be the thing that takes them from “meh” to “GREAT!”
The wallpaper is one I found in Wallpaper Engine on Steam.
Maybe we’ll see a @SwaggyAlpaca wallpaper on there some time in the future???
Thanks, haha. i know this will sound weird for a gamer, but i don’t have steam… i should probably get on that.
thanks for the review on the jwk, for my next (and first) build, i’ll probably go with alpacas, (slightly biased), i’ll probably dig down dipper into the hole into the jwks.
That is great looking. I am not always a fan of plastic or acrylic boards, but I can get behind that one. Very nice @PickleNiiiiiiick I like the Night Runners branding on the bottom
I’m not sure if I like how the usb-c port is open like that, seems like it would be really easy to miss the port or for something to jam up there and mess up the PCB or something. That is what it looks like from the pictures on the Steller65 NR website at least, not sure if that is the actual case though
For the wallpaper, since i dont have wallpaper engine, (nor steam ), i just downloaded the image, however it came out really grainy, so im using this one instead.
thanks for putting the effort in to send it to me though!
