Keyboard lags/misses inputs when reconnecting to Windows via KVM

Hey all. Just wanted to check if this was a known/solvable issue before I file a support ticket.

I have my keyboard (GMMK2 65%) connected to a KVM, which splits out to a MacBook and my Windows desktop. When switching back from the Mac to my Windows computer, I’ve noticed that for a few seconds, the keyboard’s input is super laggy and misses a ton of clicks. It clears up pretty quickly and then can be used as normal, but it’s very annoying when I’m switching back and forth.

This problem doesn’t occur when switching over to my MacBook, so it’s a Windows specific issue. I tried unplugging my keyboard, and then uninstalling all my keyboard drivers from the Device Manager, but that didn’t fix anything. I’ve also made sure my keyboard has the latest firmware, via the Glorious software.

Any suggestions/tips?

Welcome to the forum @PunchFox, sorry to hear you are having issues. I don’t personally use MacOS or a KVM, but feel free to stick around and see if anyone has any advice. In the meantime, I would recommend contacting support about it here.

Hey there. I don’t think this a macOS issue, I was just mentioning my full setup to explain why I think it’s a Windows-specific problem. The issue doesn’t occur on my Mac.

My bad, poor writing on my part. I just meant that I don’t personally deal with changing my OS while still using the same peripherals and I am not sure what is causing the issue.

While troubleshooting issues with the Glorious CORE software (and by troubleshooting, I mean uninstalling/reinstalling things and giving up on v2 again to go back to v1) the laggy issue suddenly went away so… idk. I guess something was borked with the software, which caused it to interfere with the keyboard whenever it was plugged back in. for a small bit.

I feel a bit silly not having tried that before, but I guess I just didn’t expect non-driver software to be able to have that effect.

Edit: Ok, actually, it’s just that behavior occurs while the CORE software is open. But until I uninstalled/reinstalled, I think the software was broken and never quit out, and always started with my computer, even though I told it not to. So now at least I can close it for most of the time, and it’s fine.
