Agreed @jzaine7, love seeing something that feels like a true introduction level keyboard finally. That’s actually in a price range that I might pick one up just for a weekend project.
It does fit the nice entry level - don’t worry about if it gets wet type of keyboard.
The one thing, I was little disappointed about is it isn’t hot swappable on the switches but I guess that allows it to be water and dust proof but limits any real customization besides keycaps
The GMBK is essentially a membrane keyboard that has removable keycaps and a swappable rotary knob. So customization is there, but definitely due to product category (membrane vs mechanical) the switches aren’t swappable.
Not sure if swappable membranes exist, anyone here seen them or swapped the membrane on one of their own keyboards? Curious how difficult that would be, I assume more advanced than a switch swap if it’s even really done.
To my surprise I actually found this keyboard enjoyable. I don’t have much experience with membrane keyboards besides the cheap ones you get with like an office pc but it feels good. Plug it in and the RGB is amazing, extremely quiet I have been using it at work, and doesn’t feel like a cheap keyboard, and has a knob. Probably won’t ever replace any of my gaming keyboards at home, but if it was all I could afford I wouldn’t be mad about it. Nice that they have something at this price point that is definitely a viable choice if you don’t feel like spending more or care that it’s membrane.
So glad to hear this! This was my feeling with this one too - I was surprised how much better it felt compared to something like the wireless apple membrane keyboards I used previously. Much better tactile feedback. It’s not going to compete with the feel and customization of a mechanical keyboard, but it’s pretty nice for being a super budget keyboard
Ya I could see this doing well at like a Best Buy where there’s a display model so people can actually see it doesn’t just feel like every other cheap keyboard and that the RGB is crazy.
